Advantages of Side Utility Sheds

If you’re the type who packs the back of their garage, storage unit, or other storage space where you can never find anything, a side utility shed may be the solution for you. Double doors allow entry on the long side of the shed, allowing you to store tools, equipment, holiday decorations, and more on either side of the main entrance.

Typical Uses for a Side Utility Shed

Store outdoor decorations, garden tools, and power tools securely without taking up space inside your home or garage. Drive right inside through the double 36” doors on your riding mower as soon as you finish cutting the grass.

If you prefer to park your cars in your garage, a side utility shed is a perfect option for a workshop where you won’t get sawdust or metal shavings all over your vehicles. Run power to your shed for your tools and install a window unit to fight the summer heat.

Difference Between a Side Utility Shed and Other Sheds

The door placement and window options are the primary difference between our side utility sheds and standard utility shed. Both offer several panel siding options, including wood or metal options, plus metal or shingle roofing choices. You may also choose a metal utility or side utility shed with metal sides and roof. Both also offer upgrades for additional lofted storage.

Side Lofted Utility Upgrade

The loft isn’t a different building — it’s an upgrade you add to the Side Utility. Framing goes in overhead to create a storage deck above head height, so seasonal bins, lumber and the things you only reach for twice a year get out of your way and the floor stays open.

The trade-off: adding the loft brings the standard inside wall height down from 93 1/2" to 78", because the loft framing sits above it. Need to stand tall equipment upright along the walls? Skip the loft. Need somewhere to put everything else? It’s the cheapest square footage in the building.
